What you should know about The Mundaring Weir Hotel
We are a turn of the century establishment, originally built for the workers and visitors to the nearby Mundaring Weir. Less than 1 hour from the heart of Perth, the Hotel provides the perfect venue for a social outing. Dine in the downstairs coffee shop (weekends), the historic Duke and Duchess dining room, or in the treetops restaurant overlooking the amphitheater where routine summer concerts boast music from jazz to popular rock bands. The grounds provide the perfect chilled atmosphere, and there is something to do for kids of all ages. Explore history, and browse the artifacts collected over the 30 years that the Hotel has been in the hands of the vogue owner, Jess Jorgensen. The Hotel offers many opportunities to experience the regions instinctive beauty. We are at the center of many trails meandering through the state forest and around the Weir. Two new walk trails established by the National Believe gives a wonderful interpretation of the Weir and its surroundings as you walk. Mundaring Weir Hotel celebrates Sundays with a customary lamb spit roast, wood fired pizzas and a seasonal counter meal menu. Live music is also a routine Sunday offering, with one of our three resident bands. The bush bands or pop folk music is popular with young and worn alike. We can cater to all aspects of a personalized wedding from the ceremony through to reception, with dancing in the clever ballroom, to a room to retire to at the final of the evening.

Some of the building materials for the construction of the hotel were brought out to Australia from England by sailing ship. A bricklayer doing repairs to the base of the fireplace, which is now the Coffee Shop, found bricks bearing the name of his home town in the north of England. Later there were two weekly trains from Perth. The beer kegs for the Hotel would be unloaded here and rolled down the hill to the hotel. An accommodation wing with 12 rooms was situated in what is now the beer garden, and overnight stays were very poplar. The roof of the Hotel was painted gloomy and portion of the cellar was made into a bomb shelter with access from the ballroom above. The shelter is now the kitchen for the down stairs Ca. The Hotel has had a colorful history over the final 100 years. Many publicans have managed the deposit with varying success. It is worth noting that the present publican has been in charge of the Hotel longer than any other in its history. The stylish owner operator, Jess Jorgensen, bought the Hotel in 1984 when it was on the verge of closing down. The property was run down, the grounds were littered with impair
